About Canaan Rice

Canaan Rice has spent more than 20 years honing her expertise as an event planner, public relations manager and researcher. Canaan has led events, media management and customized research in every industry imaginable: Municipal non-profit, corporate, local, state and federal government entities, national athletic organizations.

 

Organizations such as the United States Navy, PGA, USA BMX, State of Oklahoma and multiple renewable energy corporations have trusted Canaan to produce and deliver flawless results.   

 

After earning her degree in Public Relations at Oklahoma State University, Canaan moved to Tulsa to join the Grand Opening Team for the Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center. Here, Canaan refined her skills in catering and event sales and behind-the-scenes logistics for large scale events of all varieties.    

  

Her success propelled her to accept a job with the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, a professional organization with over 40,000 members worldwide, where she was part of the team responsible for the planning and execution of events ranging from 50 to 10,000 attendees. During her time at SEG, Canaan earned her CMP Certification- a professional designation for meeting planners requiring years of experience, hours of continued education, mentoring young professionals, speaking at college courses and publishing professional articles. The final step to earn the designation is passing a comprehensive exam, which Canaan notably passed while pregnant with her first child. Earning her CMP took five years and remains one of Canaan’s most cherished accomplishments.

 

In 2014, Canaan joined the team at sixPR, a boutique public relations firm in downtown Tulsa. In her role as Senior Account and Events Manager, she managed all of the firm’s events including, but certainly not limited to, organizing press conferences, groundbreakings and grand openings. 

 

As a senior account manager, Canaan created, oversaw and executed communications plans for the firm's wide variety of clients. In this role, Canaan developed a passion and strong skill set for multiple areas of research and became the go-to researcher at the firm.

 

By providing in-depth, tailored facts and media history, she was able to help clients fully understand the political climates, decision makers, elected officials, demographics, all essential for successful public relations campaigns. Research specialties include determining customized demographic profiles, political climates and county and state leaders and decision makers. Additionally, detailed account of all media history, identifying  brand competitors and determining  strategic ways to garner earned media.
